Lamprecycling was set up in 2000 as a response to the lack of recycling of  flourescent lights and computers, and became a not for profit Ltd Company in 2001. The community enterprise has grown to extend its collection services from Lands End to London, breaking new ground in specialist recycling for the regions community sector. Lamprecycle's system recovers  hazardous materials such as mercury contained in the lamps. The group also work to raise awareness and promote low energy lighting alternatives to their customers that include Local Authorities, businesses and other organisations. Tubes are collected for 50 pence each per linear flourescent tube or 65 pence each for all other non-linear lamps, or free if the client chooses to purchase new low energy replacement lamps through the company. Lamprecycle won the 2003 Devon Environmental Business Initiative award.

Through Recycleworld, Lamprecycle refurbish and sell at low cost reusable computers and recycle defunct ones. All hard drives are wiped clean using specialist software. They offer free collections of computer equipment, office equipment and furniture, which is also resold at low cost.
