Jigsaw Enterprises
It is a charitable project run by the North Devon Housing Society and is supported by Torridge District Council. The aims are: · To assist those in need to acquire furniture and white goods. Such items are donated to the Society and repaired/restored as necessary before distribution. · To provide rehabilitation and training for people with special needs. · Provide work for people with special needs, thereby integrating them back into the community. · To create income for the project by commissions/sales of restored or new furniture, wooden items and repaired white goods. · Jigsaw is operated by both paid employees and volunteers, all of whom are committed to the objective of operating a largely self sufficient Social Firm. Torridge Real Nappy Network. A group of committed volunteers help promote the use of real nappies over disposable ones, and their environmental benefits. Local events are held such as 'nappochino' drop in coffee mornings where different nappies can be appraised to help inform the choice. Surestart Children's Centre in Bideford now offer interest free loans for real nappy purchase through a local credit union and the 'Vos Amis' debt redemption charity. There is also a Devon wide real nappy working grp which seeks to promote real nappy use throughout the county. Contact your Local Authority Recycling Officer for details for your area.
